Workplace Essentials

Compliance

Human Services agencies are required to comply with a variety of mandates from the National Voter Registration Act, Employment Development Department, MEDS Privacy & Security, HIPAA, and Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest policies. This workshop covers all of the above topics, catered to the individual county.  What makes this workshop unique are the discussions, games, and activities through which this vital information is shared. Attendees are more likely to be compliant after attending this fun and interactive course.

Conflict Resolution

Welcome to the Conflict Resolution workshop. Wherever two or more people come together, there is the possibility of conflict. This course will give participants a six-step process that they can use to modify and resolve conflicts of any size. Participants will also learn crucial conflict resolution skills, learn how to deal with anger and how to use the Agreement Frame.  As a result of this course employees will be better equipped to handle conflict in any situation.

Cultural Awareness & Diversity

Cultural competence is increasingly vital to every organization. In this workshop participants explore the culture and cultural competence through the lens of diversity. As we appreciate our differences, examine the cycle of conditioning, and find our commonalities.  Participants walk away with the tools to enhance cultural competence within themselves and the agency.

Customer Service

This workshop provides a comprehensive understanding of what constitutes excellent customer service and provides tools to ensure the transfer of learning. Participants examine obstacles that prevent optimum service and solutions to create excellent customer service delivery.  This workshop incorporates lectures, small and large group discussions, reflective exercises, and fun interactive activities to reinforce each learning point.

Inclusion and Implicit Bias

We have all heard about the importance of inclusion and implicit bias. But what does it really mean in practice? Based on the theory of unconscious bias, this interactive course examines our unconscious forms of discrimination and stereotyping and offers practical ways to create a culture of inclusion in our teams and organizations.  Participants will gain an understanding of their own biases, be introduced to Harvard’s Project Implicit Assessment (IAT), and learn ways to become more inclusive in the workplace.

Essential Soft Skills

Having the technical skills and knowledge to successfully execute job duties is only one part of the job. In addition to these “hard” skills, we also need “soft” skills. Soft skills allow us to effectively work with others. Essential soft skills include communication, emotional intelligence, problem-solving, time management, attitude, work ethic, adaptability, self-confidence, networking, and willingness to learn.  This workshop explores ways to develop the essential soft skills so that participants can contribute to a more efficient, harmonious, and productive workplace, as well as overall job happiness and satisfaction.
